Asrat Beraso Bali

Coffee Producer

A third-generation coffee producer, Asrat is native to the highlands of Yirgacheffe. He is the manager of Beker Coffee, the owner and producer of Beraso and Bali specialty coffee beans. Beraso means abundance in the Gedeo language, while Bali means to shield and protect. Our coffee is named after our producers.

Asrat’s father owns over 100 hectares of coffee farmland in Koke Kebele. An ambitious second generation grower, he inherited farmland with aging coffee trees. Looking to sustain the land for future generations, he started replacing old trees with quality saplings of different varieties. The new trees produced significantly higher yields of specialty coffee. Following in his father’s footsteps, Asrat started a coffee processing plant in nearby Konga Kebele.

Asrat Beraso has been a part of the Beker family since 2003. In 2018, Beker Coffee acquired the processing site and partnered with Asrat to form a large-scale coffee farming and processing business. The Beker family brought their strong business acumen and the Beraso family their rich coffee farming knowledge and experience. Asrat became the farm manager for Beker Coffee and became an integral part of the company. Asrat is central to expanding Beker Coffee’s processing site by building more washing stations, silos, drying beds, and storage sheds. In conjunction with Asrat, Beker Coffee also acquired more farmland. Now, Beker Coffee is one of the largest specialty coffee producer in Yirgacheffe. Together this partnership brings the finest berries to the world.
