When I completed my degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas, I had the opportunity to return to my hometown of Addis Ababa to work in the pharmaceutical industry. I spent 15 years working in the pharma field giving access to life saving medicine to our developing nation, a hard but reward experience. During that time, I traveled extensively throughout Ethiopia and reconnected with my country. Having spent some time in the south, I quickly developed a love for the people, culture and land of the Gedeo people and was excited to transition my work into sustainable farming and supporting the local community.

We started with growing fruits and vegetables in Arba Minch in SNNPR and later transitioned into coffee farming which came naturally as coffee is central to the Ethiopian culture. Now, my work allows me to deliver the fruit of the wonderful Gedeo people to the rest of the world.

Growing up, the aroma and sounds of the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony brought together friends, family and neighbors. I remember my mom roasting, brewing and sipping the aromatic coffee with her friends to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life to taste the moment.

After years in the United States, completing my studies and working in the tech field, I returned to Ethiopia to work in my family-owned company as a CFO. Coffee is integral to social and business life in Ethiopia and once again, I was able to enjoy the same cultural tradition with my friends like  my mom and her friends. I am now fortunate to bring the rich taste of Ethiopian coffee to the world.
